For many microcontroller and some microprocessor-based designs it is often more advantageous and cost effective to develop a custom operating system kernel specifically for the task at hand. It may be cost prohibitive to purchase an off-the-shelf RTOS, or the design's complexity may not warrant the features of one. Most often custom operating systems are employed in time-critical (performance) and/or space-critical (memory) situations where a full-featured RTOS would be too slow or too large. eES has developed custom operating systems for many different industries and applications. We judiciously approach each software development problem and discuss all operating system options with our clients before embarking upon a design plan.
